About Us
Our mission is to improve health and well-being, strengthen communities, and support those in need through humanitarian service and grants that impact lives locally and globally.
Lions Clubs concentrate on local needs and respond to emergency situations through Lions Clubs International and Charity Foundations that operate at the state and district level. Lions in Northampton County
Cape Charles Lions support County Social Services efforts to provide school clothes and Christmas presents to local families in need. We contribute resources to the Leader Dog Organization to train guide dogs for the vision impaired. We support YMCA programs on the Shore to promote exercise and combat diabetes. We rely on the time and expertise of community partners like the Nursing Program at the Eastern Shore Community College and local optometrists to conduct joint health fairs and fit eyeglasses.
5 Focus Areas of Lions Clubs International
Vision & Hearing - We conduct no-cost vision screening and hearing screening, often at community health fairs. We provide eyeglasses and hearing aids for those who can’t afford them.
Hunger - We provide monetary donations and non-perishable food items to local food banks.
Diabetes - We support health fairs to alert community members of blood glucose issues.
Cancer - We donate to Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters and the Ronald McDonald House in Norfolk.
Environment - We recycle used eyeglasses and used hearing aids. We support the planting of trees through the efforts of the local electric company.
